Output iPhone 5 could be delayed

According to the publication The Wall Street Journal, the Japanese company Sharp, one of three suppliers of displays for the next generation iPhone, could not organize their production in time. This could lead to a shortage of new smartphones in the first days of sales.

Source WSJ, familiar with the situation said that the delay in the start of mass production of displays for the iPhone caused by certain production difficulties.

Recall that in August, the head of Sharp Takashi Okuda after the announcement of financial results for the quarter has mentioned that "shipments of displays for iPhone 5 will begin in August." It did not happen.

In addition to Sharp, the displays for the new smartphone Apple also produce company Japan Display and LG Display. It is reported that these providers have begun mass production of displays on the plan.

Earlier this year, Sharp has also delayed the start of production of displays for the tablet iPad, which, however, in the end had no effect on its availability.

It is expected that the new iPhone will be used display, technology in-cell. In contrast to previously used technology on-cell (in iPhone 4S and earlier models), in in-cell touch sensors built right into the color filter matrix, but not displayed on top in a single substrate. This allows you to reduce the thickness of the display and, accordingly, the thickness and weight of the smartphone. According to recent reports, the thickness of the new iPhone will be only 7.6 mm (compare: the iPhone 4S, the figure is 9.3 mm).

Recall, the announcement of the iPhone 5 is likely to happen next week - September 12. In addition to the new display with a diagonal of 4 inches, and a slim body, it is expected that the smartphone will get a metal body and a new, smaller dock connector.
