The popularity of mobile devices makes them an excellent target of hackers who use gadgets during the attacks

The report of Prolexic Technologies Company shows that mobile applications have become increasingly used within the corporate sector to conduct DDoS-attacks since Q4 2013.

“A huge number of mobile devices and applications that are written specifically for them are used to conduct DDoS-attacks. This is a key moment nowadays – said Stuart Scholly, president of Prolexic. – Virus writers have received a powerful tool that requires minimal skills to operate. Considering the fact that mobile devices are very easy to be used in carrying out this type of attack, we expect intensification in activity by hackers in this segment in 2014.“


Prolexic recently have published the report with collected the data about hackish attacks on the company’s customers worldwide in 2013. The report shows that mobile devices were used in carrying out DDoS-attacks on major financial corporation.

For example, analysts have found that users of Android devices have been victims of super spyware AnDOSid, which is able to send a huge amount of HTTP POST-requests.
