90% of Americans do not believe in the security of their data online

The greatest threat to privacy are an e-commerce stores.

90% of Americans who are at work using mobile devices, are confident that their sensitive data at risk. Despite this, many people continue to publish personal information online. It is stated in the report of ISACA.

The report's authors argue that the most at risk are the ones who are using mobile devices for online purchases. This is due to the fact that many online stores offer discounts for the disclosure of certain information to users. In particular, as shown by the data of the survey, 58% of respondents are willing to provide their email address in exchange for a 50% discount on the product, which is estimated at $ 100. Another 22% of respondents are willing to share their home address and 15% - to provide mother's maiden name.

Experts note that the loss of confidential information are natural. This is evidenced by the fact that 65% of respondents said they did not check the security settings of the online stores that they visit. 36% of respondents visit the unproven links to social networks with the company's computer. 12% of respondents keep their passwords, you want to work on their personal devices.

"Since people tend to provide their personal information online, that increases the likelihood that they will become victims of attacks associated with social engineering" - said John Pironti advisor ISACAi.
